"Freedom Writers"

Last night Julia, Ashlyn and I watched a really cool movie called "Freedom Writers." The movie is based on a true story about a high school teacher who touched and changed the lives of her students. Her students were all kids from various nationalities and backgrounds who had very rough lives.They were involved in gangs and shootings and things of this sort. I don't want to tell too much about the movie because I can't stand when someone ruins a movie for me... plus I'd rather you see it for yourself. But I will say this much...it's very much worth the time.



Throughout the whole movie, I was reminded about the power of ONE. This teacher put aside her own desires to step into the lives of her students, and was able to truly impact the fate and outcomes of their lives. She was ONE teacher, with ONE heart with ONE purpose...TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Sometimes, I feel so overwhelmed by the amount of lost friends and family members that I can't seem to see the promise that God has given me. Sometimes the task feels so great to me. And I am sure that this teacher felt overwhelmed at the task that was set before her, but she continued to invest in these kids and get into the world that they lived day in and day out... reminds me of a message Jason preached on a few months ago about INVESTING and INVITING.

That's what it boils down to...being THE ONE who will invest in THE ONE!!!
